Seahunt,

This is my opinion:

I don't think deep diving is any more inheritantly dangereous than recreational diving with the following caveats:

The diver has been properly trained in deep diving principals and decompression principals including multiple training dives.

The diver is geared and configured properly for this type of dive including doubles with isolated manifold.

The diver's experiences has brought him to a place where his confidence level for these types of dives is recognizable. More so, this diver knows when to call a dive, recognizes when conditions are unfavorable, recogonizes when he's just not quite ready, and has the good sense to know that he can always come back another day.
