DUI makes a C-4 thinsulate undergarment that many people favor.
I use a combination of sweats, T-shirts, Padagonia shirts and the like.. The key is to layer the clothes, not over heat prior to getting in the water. If you are sweating at the surface this will cause you to chill once you get in the water.
I went to the mountain climbing place in W LA A-1 Wilderness and they had a great variety of thermal undergarments that were intended to be used in cold, but yet situations that required athletic movement...
