1/2" evacuated flat panel - R=75
1/2" spun glass (fiberglass) - R=1
1/2" thinsulate (approx.) - R=5

Mr. "right",

You do know what an R value is, don't you? Obviously the remark about a vacuum jacket was tongue in cheek but vacuum is a superb insulator. Nothing to conduct through, so no conduction loss. Maybe we should paint the inside of the vacuum with IR reflective paint to stop the radiation losses.

Thinsulate is constructed differently than fleece, and generally recognized as a superior insulator. Check your facts first, then post.
