Now a day the things that attract me to a shop are:
1) Close proximity to where I live, so air fills are convenient.
2) When I need gear quickly … they have good quality gear in stock … not the Trident crap most shops stock.
3) A shop that will sell me the components, including regulator parts I want.
4) People who work there with an IQ above that of a sea cucumber.
I do not look for advice for buying gear, since I dive more often, and have more dives than almost anyone that works in the shops. There are a few people that work at local shops, who I value discussing things with, but this seems to be the exception.
