Just FTR, that's not true. (Of course, it also depends on how you define "new".)

I don't have the DEMA stats in front of me but they pretty much parallel what I see at our store which is still a heathly volume of sales (trade-ins, trade-ups, etc.) from experienced divers, and also a good number of sales from people who have been certified for a little while.

Perhaps if the statement was, "The majority of customers making large purchases are divers making their first Big Ticket buys," it would be closer to the truth.
