In basic air, NDL diving 3 minutes at 15' seems to work well.

The 10' -v- 15' -v- 20' debate is for the most part a moot discussion in the recreational sense when using air, and even to a lesser extent EANx.

My reasoning is as follows:

At 10' using air ( ie; 21% 02) your P02 is .27

At 15' using air your P02 is .31

and at 20' your P02 is .34

for 3 minutes the difference between .27 and .34 is statistically insignificant to even warrant meaningful consideration.. It seems to me that by cutting the difference in half at 15' those that can't properly hold a stop can atleast have the fudge factor if they shoot for 15' and wind up at either 10' or 20', but if they shoot for 20' and wind up at 30', while not the end of the world it almost becomes self defeating..

Hope that helps.
