which is one reason why, Jim, when my 5 year old BC finally starts to give up the ghost, i will likely go in there and hassle you for that much talked about stainless steel backplate /w/ harness and wings.

In an effort to prolong its life, i stopped yanking on the inflator hose years ago. Looking at the cheap brittle materials, and the mechanical stresses inflicted upon them even way back then, did not inspire any confidence in that part of my kit.

BTW, i assume that the power inflator valve mechanisms and assemblies are proprietary for different makes & models of BCs ?
