Diving Deep...

I suppose after my last thread I should stay away from controversial issues ;-) but seriously, I had a question for all the tech divers out there. Here it is: what is the advantage/draw/excitement to diving to extreme depths using high tech gases and extended decompression? This isn't to be seen as an insult or challenge to your practice, but I want to know why? What is to see? What makes the long time spent at decompression worth it? Where in CA do you go to dive so deep? How did you first get into it? Seeing that I've not been below 43 some odd feet I wouldn't know anything about this issue. My parents won't let me go below 60 because of the possibility of epipheasial plate damage from microbubbles. At first I was kind of perturbed but I've learned that some of the most vibrant life exhists close to the surface. The colors are also incredible higher up. Not to say of course that some day I will go deeper but not for now. Thank you for your answers in advance.
