I agree that lack of financial wherewithal is a poor excuse for diving the wrong mix.. If you have a problem, particularly at depth during a penetration dive, Mother Nature could care less if you are Donald Trump or are penniless. She is an unforgiving bitch at depth...
In my view these type of issues speak to a VERY poor mindset.. As everyone knows I support the DIR system and as I have repeateded often DIR is as much about a mindset as it is about an approach to a dive.. Many accidents can be prevented before you even get in the water and diving air on this dive in a U-boat is clearly one of those examples... Why so few are willing to ackownledge this incident for what it is defies logic.. It's a very easily resolvable receipe for disaster...
If you can't afford the right gas than don't do the dive....
