Ascend with inflator detached?

Not sure I get the drill, Frank. I would never put air INTO the BC on a non-emergency ascent (and I view an emergency buoyant ascent as the absolute LAST resort, only if an emergency swimming ascent isn't fast enough) , so I'm not sure what the drill's designed to do.

Do you mean, ascend with the power inflator hose detached so one can only orally inflate on surface, or pretend that one can't inflate at all on surface, or what? Clarification appreciated, I'm all for keeping sharp.
