Newport Beach in winter tends to be rough at the surfline (with some calm days).
Try Big or Little Corona Beaches if the seas are calm.
Laguna is just down the road and most spots there are better.
Newport Aquatic Center is located on Coast Highway near the Balboa Penninsula.
