I lived about 3 miles from Manhattan Beach pier 60's to mid 70's. Then I lived in Escondido until the late 70's. My family is still there, so I return for visits. After SoCal, I've spent about 20 years in N. CA. One of my best friends is from S.B. (Montecito). I've spent a lot of time there over the years too. In terms of climate, culture, and geography S.B. is definitely SoCal. Hey, there are people up here who believe that Sacramento is the northern-most city of SoCal.

Isn't civil war fun?! I know that I've voted to split the state into two three times - it's our water and it belongs in our rivers not in L.A. pools and lawns!

I'll be spending 3-days over New Years at the Channel Islands on a boat that will be 1/2 from N. CA and 1/2 from L.A. (the anti-city). That should be interesting...
