While walking down the aisle at the DEMA
convention a few years ago, I ran into what
my friends and I call "PADI Land". Its usually
the largest, most expensive and elaborate of
all the "booths" ( Its usually about 20 booths
put together. )
PADI had a bunch of these robots with arms and legs,
and a tv moniter for a head, of course playing an
open water video tape of their CD rom. Looked very
high tech and I was please to know what my
instructor fees were being spent on.
We all looked at these robots, then at the PADI
people, and it just sorta slipped out of my mouth
real loud . .
" If PADI figure out how to waterproof these guys
then I think they just figured out a way to
replace their instructors. "
There was a series of laughs ( from the crowd ) and
a series of scowls ( from the PADI people ).
It was funny and sad, at the same time.
