Any "trick" to putting a boot on a tank Help????

My girlfriend bought me an al-80 tank for Christmas and a tank boot to go with it. But, I cannot get the boot on! It says that it is for aluminum tanks but it seems to be just a bit too small. Is there any trick to doing it or could it possibly be the wrong size ( it looks too big to be for an AL-63) any help or suggestions would be great.
