Definitely, absolutely, irretrievably non-DIR! (But, yeah, I've got one, too.) I'm now convinced that you must become a total DIR diver or not at all. It can't be adapted, piece by piece. It's more than just gear and configurations. It's an attitude, a philosophy. Like God, you're either a believer or an athiest. No agnostics in the DIR ranks. But you've got to give them this: a true, trained, experienced DIR diver is the safest diver in the entire world of diving, and you can take that fact to the bank.
