May I suggest... I've done lots of wetsuit repair and even made a hood. It had 17 pieces...
Use neoprene glue (solvent). Put it on both sides lightly. Wait 5 minutes. Put another light coat. Wait 10 minutes and join. I concluded that sewn areas wore out faster than non-sewn areas.
