Some might disagree, but I call that a great dive. It's
gotta be a place where nobody else goes. It sounds like
Jalama. You have to decide how much gear you actually
can carry... and carry back. I always left my farmer
john behind there and figured I could do good enough
with a jacket.
Germans you say. Now there is a different diving culture
and it really fits the German stereotype. I buddied with
a German at San Miguel. He was flabbergasted. It was so
different. Just to get an air fill you have to be a
member of a dive club. I guess that is how they regulate
it there. I did two follow dives with him to show him
around and got him to eat scallop underwater. I wanted to
set him up to take an abalone (taking game was a
radical idea to him). The legalities made it difficult,
though we almost made it. He chose to make number 3 and 4
dives solo instead of looking for a new buddy. He really
wasn't a newbie. After the last dive, he was sorta glowing
from the novelty and ?freedom of it. He still needed me to
sign his dive log as buddy or he would have gotten in
trouble with the club back home. Real nice guy. Plenty
good diver.
ENjoy the diving, seahunt
