He's right in one respect: what came first, scuba diving or BC's. I've dove without one in the Caribbean but not out of choice. Forgot to pack it! Since I dive with a steel 120 I guess the #27 would be best for me. As to the SS backplate, I'd rather the AL for travel diving.
