When I wrote "two thousand" I meant the whole enchilada, including the torch and battery cylinder, the "right" fins as opposed to my Force Fins, the O2 pony, the harness mounted torches, a bottom timer, storage pouches on my dry suit, etc., etc. As I understand it, there's no such thing as semi-DIR or quasi-DIR. You either is or you isn't. George Irvine has declared that the whole system has to be "perfect". Anything less is doing it the wrong way. Again, the major deterent to total DIR is finding the "perfect" buddy, and in the real world of diving and living, perfect doesn't exist.
