A question for both of us: what about this growing body of evidence that nitrogen is deleterious to our health at any depth and that helium is a healthier mix?
Agreed that the greater the % of O2 in the mix, the shallower the bottom. But a preplanned dive should take that into account. My 40 cu ft pony is always filled with a Nitrox mix of 40%. Max depth is 100 fsw, so I know if I'm diving deeper than that I've got to get my butt back up to 100 fsw or shallower before I can switch to the pony. Then the pony becomes an ascent gas that I have the choice of breathing as though it was 21% for a margin of safety.
Ken, I think the mixed gas parade is swimming into the future and you're still treading water in a nitrogen swamp.
