WRT my gear, I'm anal about maintaining it after diving and usually, I set up my close-to-DIR gear within five minutes and then just dive it without problems.
Even less gear to worry about in the Aquarium.

WRT my physical condition, I'm currently training for the Marathon and can walk 18 miles at 10 minutes each. When I'm done, only my left foot hurts.

But I do skip-breathe. Out of habit and often on purpose to precisely maintain buoyancy. When I do presentations, I must skip-breathe, otherwise I can't understand my counterpart due to bubble noise.
I'll try to remember to breathe continuously next time and see what happens.
