Chris the data on in-water recompression is flawed and sources back to DAN. For reasons of liability DAN and PADI,etc. have shied away from this useful concept in an emergency situation. It has been proven that bubbbles take several minutes to form after ascent, and will compress again upon descent. Older divers have used this concept for years with success. Of course if you have an onboard chamber....
