Many of the shops in Northern California sell 7mm dive mits. I have friends that have used them and told me they are very warm. When it is not lobster season, when I use leather gloves, I now use a 7mm dive glove Seasoft (WaterMark) gloves. They have a outer layer that is similar to kevlas, but a bit more flexable. I bought them at last years DEMA, but many local shops sell them. You can find them on my dive gear page, the link is at the top of the BBS main page.
