From a reseach standpoint, "fatigue" is almost impossible to measure because it's so subject. Good research has to produce measurable and reproducable results. Plus variables like hydration level, water temperature, and exertion need to be factored into fatigue. This may be part of the reasons no one has been able to provide the proof you are looking for.
I too am a skeptic at heart. I want validation before I accept what I read and hear. I found my own vailidation for lessened fatigue through trying enriched air for myself. I encourage you to do the same. Let your own experience determine what's true for you.
Out of curiosity, How long have you been diving?
Are you under 35 years of age?
Is your body fat % less than 20%?
Have you had any experience with Nitrox?
Again, I am happy to see someone question what they are being told. I hear too often "I read on the net. I must be true".
