I wear my cvonsole cliped close, and don't have an entanglement problem. I also use an AL80, but put 10lbs of non-ditchable (by me,my bubby can dump it) wieght on it. With one tank, I can have the weight both ways, as an Al or HP steel. Balance is great, cost less, no added danger.
