Hello from Washington State, I believe as long as you plan your dive and dive your plan, know what you will have to do if the plan gets tossed. Know your equipment, how to use it. Know yourself, and don't try to fool yourself, you will always loose if you do. There are bold divers, and there are old divers, there are no old bold divers.
