Yes, but if I might add that the size of the tie wrap should be taken into consideration for larger wraps usually last longer. I was using 1/8" to about 3/16" on my earlier necklaces.

I know one way to get your tie wraps to last 20 years is to not take them out of your garage.

My shock cord necklace has lasted through many dive in clorinated pools, fresh water caves and salty ocean dives and I have never experienced anything other than an end comming un-tied. But that was easy to fix. No tie wrap needed. Just a simple knott.
