As I understand it, the "book" by JJ is simply an explanation of GUE/DIR principles and practices in laymans terms. Tech is tech and rec is rec and nary the twain shall ever meet in OW basic sport diving. As MHK put it bluntly: DIR is a small elite group and "it should remain that way".
