Hi, Yes it is worth the long (12 hours from the border) drive. I have been there many times and the diving is spectaculer. Just be aware of a few things. 1, The weather.... A perfect blue sky, flat calm day can turn to howling winds in an hour. Always plan to dive in the early morning, the wind seems to arrive about 12am to 1pm. The channels between the islands get real rough real quick. 2, Dont count on finding anything there. No compressor, Boats, Gas, Dive gear, Etc. You basiclly have to bring everything. 3. Be very aware that you are on your own. BOLA is NOT the place to have a diving accident, a boat breakdown, get carried away from the boat by current etc. 4. The water temp off shore around the islands is colder than most people think, due to the tide induced upswell. The bays are much warmer but the vis is often less than 30 feet. Now the good part, take all the colder water species of fish, all the warmer water species from cabo and sprinkle them around the neatest collection of little islands. Angelfish, pufferfish, triggerfish, grouper, tuna, rock scallops, bay scallops, tiger scallops, seahorses, manta rays, huge squid, whales, etc. Every place you dive there will be something different. And then you can drink Tequila around a bonfire on the beach and howl at the moon. Life don't get no better than that.
