Thanks for the prompt response to my query, Mike. Yes, that event would convince me that the DIR principles and practices is the only way to go...IN THAT TYPE DIVING ENVIRONMENT, e.i., deep OE's. The Andrea Doria is definitely NOT a recreational diving environment. Am I wrong in assuming that all the solo posts recently were recreational and not technical? I personally define recreational as shallower than 100 fsw and within NDL's. I definitely agree with you that anything deeper or decom mandates team diving, and not just any team. In those situations I embrace and promodte DIR totally.
