JRM,some people just don't get it. If you want to stay alive in the dive store business you need to give good customer service. Sounds like your PADI guys up there are (good for them).
If you want to be a dive instructor you must first understand that there is NO MONEY in it(it is a pretty good tax deduction).
If you are going to take an ITC I would take the NAUI one and then crossover to PADI (it's cheaper that way and the NAUI ITC will give you a better base to start with).
When you take your ITC, be ready for it. You will get allot more out of the course if you are and be allot better instructor.
