MHK, didn't you recently post some blanket criticism of DM's because they weren't sufficiently involved in supervising dives?
If you take the position that a DM on a boat has an affirmative duty to check the gear, dive plan, and/or qualifications of certified divers, then it is hard to say that that duty should extend to everything EXCEPT issues relating to the type of breathing gas.
