Frank, reread my post.
1) Ankle weights require extra enery, gator don't
2) Gator keep the calf of your drysuit from capturing air so you feet don't float so much and fins don't pop off (that actaully two advantages)
3) Then you kick in a baggie suit the ruffles suit material creates eddy current which slow your kick and the suit legs rub together. Gator prevent this. (thats actually two as well)
