Drizzle. Grey skies. Cold. Swells, surf, surge, no vis. And this is Southern California.
Well, I enjoyed today's shift in the Long Beach Aquarium of the pacific even more.
First dive in Blue Cavern (predator exhibit). Feeding sardines to the sharks, squid and shrimp and smelt to the morays, shovelnoses, the new pelagic ray (she's adorable) and the bat rays.
Second dive in the tropical reef exhibit. Feeding the golden trevallies to keep them in check so they don't eat the food away from the smaller fish while they are fed also. The trevallies are very agressive feeders but have no teeth to speak of :-) Then, after they were all fed, hovering about and enjoying the teeming life in there, the big eyes of the kids behind the acrylic wall and the artificial sun shining inside.
That's the advantage of this dreadful weather: it lets you appreciate a good day even more.
