While I do disagree that DIR is a must for safe diving in open water at the fairly shollow depts we dive around here, the DIR'rs heart is in the right place of promopting safety. I hate to see the name calling, but that is what people do when they get frustrated. I don't dive DIR, don't see the need to for what I do. I know that no philosophy ever gets advanced without the fanatics at the forefront, and others crying NEVER. What happens is most of us find the middle that works. W/O the heavy debates here, I wouldn't have the ability to make the comparisons between different styles of diving. Thanks for keeping this BBS interesting. I'm not bored here, that's for sure. !
