1) Being streamlined isn't the extent of DIR, philosophically or configurationally (is that a word?). Getting that point across alone is worth the effort of a DIR demo.
2) There is so much misinformation on this and other locations about DIR that the best, sometimes the only, way to get the message straight is by doing something like the demo.
As far as not delivering on the promise, well, I disagree there. While I think JJ could have done a better job of sticking to recreational applications specifically, I think he did cover the topic well. It really is too bad you weren't able to attend.
