"When on the surface, and not in kelp, you can swim on your back and breath the air."

while up at monterey last oct, a norcal native gave
me a big tip: while surface swimming in kelp, DON'T
do what is typically termed as the 'california crawl';
instead, swim on your back.

i looked at her as if she were nuts!!! but you
know what? she was right: the kelp literally
slipped off my tank valve.

it apparently is not that big of a deal to surface
swim on your back IN kelp.

just a diving hint.

= ; )
