We should all have the skill to manualy estimate speed, fuel consumption, miles traveled, oil level, temperature, etc. when we drive a car, so the automakers can save us money by doing away with the instrument panel and guages, wouldn't you think? A valid analogy that extends to aircraft and marine vessels as well. And sky diving.
