I dived with the California Wreck Divers on the Reliance in '97. I really liked the boat and crew. Since then, they have been anchored up at 22nd Street Landing undergoing major repairs in preparation for the change to the "Island Clipper". It has been over a year now, as I remember that they had promised being ready for Chamber Day 1999 but were still working on the boat last spring.
I've been diving off the Westerly a lot this last year, and they berth adjacent to the Island Clipper. I've noticed a slow progression with the work being performed on the boat, and I hope that they finish up soon. The diving community is looking forward to diving off her when the owners complete the upgrade.
The boat looks very promising, I hope the owners finish up the work soon. I really hope they get back on line in time to participate in Chamber Day 2000.
