Excellent reply Gerry, thank you. It does make the lung issue clearer. A free divers lungs would compress during the descent but a scuba diver even at 99' who was constantly breathing would have the same full size lung as at 1atm but requiring 4 times as much air to fill them? So at any depth then the 10% rise could be deadly? There is some leeway in the sense that when we breath normally we don't take that huge maximum inhale.
