There are a lot of bad buddies around because not enough people talk about how important a buddy is.. Not enough discussion or emphasis is placed on how, why and what to look for or expect in a buddy..
Our list of buddies is growing all the time. We have a good core of diver's that are all like minded, several of them are regular posters to this list. For example, I dive with John Walker, Terry May ( tleemay) and Kendall Raine all the time ( there are other's but they don't post to this list) and we have worked together to get ourselves into a position of having buddies that share our views. We have met, and are beginning to dive more often with, several diver's from our DIR demo's and we slowly bring them along. Hopefully this will have a domino effect.
But when our team dives together, we don't worry about what kind of gas we will have, if we decide to do the Moody we won't be wrrying that someone will show up with air. We all have the same rig, the same mind set and the same approach and it makes diving safe, fun and enjoyable, despite what other's on this list will tell you.. Our dives go off without a hitch, we are able to accomplish dives week in and week out that most will never do, even though some will tell you that DIR has no application to SoCal.
