But, Mike, your buddies KNOW it's just a drill, that's why it doesn't relate to the real world of OOA. And most average sport divers, I'd guess well over 90%, don't have a 5 or 7 foot reg hose to offer. What they do have is an octopus reg trailing somewhere behind them and that really bothers me because in the real world a panicked OOA diver is going to grab his/her buddy's reg right out of his/her mouth, leaving the poor dude (or dude-ess) to flail about trying to locate the illusive octo. Training agencies are at fault here. They don't teach securing alternate air source regs so they can be immediately accessed by OOA divers.
