We argue that point every day and then are told we are zealots.. The back up reg needs to be necklaced under your chin. It is done that way for a variety of reasons that I have previoulsy highlighted..
THe agencies and instructors are equally culpable in this regard. It drives me nuts when I see *octo's* dragging behind, getting caught in kelp, collecting contaminents and if it was free flowing behind the diver they may not know, whereas if it's under your chin you'll damn well know and a paniced OOA diver won't have to wonder where to go for air..
