kendall, re:my comments about how feasible 'dir' is
CURRENTLY, i still stand by my statement. perhaps
we just see through different windows.

re:your points on the pony, i actually agree
w/what you said. i agree that a 6cuft
can be pretty much worthless and that a 13cuft
for shallow dives is a start.

i am now going to be slinging my pony under my
left arm--been meaning to get to that change
and finally i had the down time to deal w/it along
w/my other configuration changes (actually, i
think i would prefer it under my right arm, but
that stupid 'scubapro' buckle is in the way!).

i agree that it will be a lot easier to hand to
a buddy if slung under arm; also, IF! ditching
more wt is at all necessary (hopefully not, but...)
then a slung pony can be ditched in such an emergency
versus if it were on one's back.

it has been suggested to me to dive double tanks,
but since i don't typically dive deeper than 70-80ft
for the 1st dive i wouldn't need so much air on my
back; and since i use a steel hp80, b/c i can
physically handle that size, i worry
that carrying two steel tanks on my back will
do me in; and when it comes to wt issues, i don't
feel too comfy not having some ditchable wt on
me; also, when it comes to beach diving, i wonder
how many divers out there would double up, but
a smaller sized pony could still be useful.

someone else suggested a 30cuft pony, but a shop
owner thought that such a size was not at all
necessary for not-so-deep dives, and may have more
issues to deal with than it's worth.

thanx!! for your input re:the pony issue, no one
else had until now addressed that. and again
i seem to be in agreement w/you after doing
my own bit of research.

= : )

kelphead.
