Call Scuba Luv in Avalon. You can speak to Steve or his wife. They are the shop associated with the Neptune boats. They rent everything including Nitrox tanks. You can also call Catalina Divers Supply on the pier and at Casino Point to rent gear. Ask for John the owner. Both services are great. I have personally been on both their boats many times.
The dive park usually doesn't have bad currents unless it is rough. You can usually tell the water conditions while standing near the water.
I will be diving at the park on Saturday doing some gear testing with a buddy. I may be diving on one of the boats on Sunday if I have time. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
