Guilty of this also. I think we say "don't do as we say or do" to avoid being flammed. We/I also are guided by the mindset, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Believe me, if doing it "my way" since J.C. was a Corporal turns around and bites me, I'm at the head of the line looking for an alternative. And I'll say it again: the DIR way is the safest way for anyone to dive. But there are varying degrees of diving safety, sometimes at odds with higher priorities, such as the solo issue, wet steel, computers, etc.
No, Mike, because of my 12 Step program I find it refreshingly easy to admit when I'm wrong. But admitting it promptly is an ongoing problem! ;)
