We are well under way with the efforts for Chamber Day/Eve 2001, a community effort to provide funding for the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. Not only do we run Chamber Day (a day of diving at Catalina with a Chamber tour) and Chamber Evening (a sit-down dinner at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach), but we also have, as a very integral part of the overall effort, the Michael Kane $10K Chamber Challenge. Once again, we post the initial results of the 2001 version.
For those not familiar with it, Michael has put up (for the third year in a row) $10,000 of his own money and is challenging the dive community to match him. Last year, by banding together, we raised over $22,000 in addition to Michael's $10,000.
This year, contributors are being recognized at the following levels of giving: $100 or more - Bronze donor; $500 or more - Silver; $1000 or more - Gold; $5000 or more - Platinum; $10,000 or more - Diamond. (Of course, donations of ANY amount are welcome and appreciated.)
You can contribute by replying via e-mail to "ChamberDay@aol.com" or by calling Reef Seekers Dive Co., the co-ordinating store, at 310/652-4990.
Here are the folks who've gotten us started and have already put us past the $1000 mark. Who's next?????
