its not how much is strapped on your waist, its how much is strapped to your waist minus any positive bouyancy charecterisitcs of your equipt. both are measured in lbs but both are very different in regards to scuba. ie, with an alum you will actually be more bouyant with more weight then you would with a steel on your back and less weight. Its a tricky concept to explain, chime in anytime all??!!
