Thanks! I checked and saw the footnote in REEF (Coastal Fish Identification) re Kelp/Calico Bass. I couldn't find what's referred to as White Sea Bass. Is my research once again lacking? I think I saw a bunch of these recently. They even responded to my feeble attempts at their allleged croaking. Do you have any recommendations beyond the REEF book for fish i.d. in California?
