Jeff,

Wish I could join you at Monastery Friday. My wife and I are going to be trying kayak diving (for the first time) at Point Lobos Friday (1/4 to 1/2 mile south of Monastery) We don't have reservations but so far I've never had a problem getting in on a Friday. If Monastery doesn't look good try stopping by Lobos.

An earlier post mentioned the lost diver there the first week of January. Just wanted to add that I had dove Monastery 6 days prior and the conditions were the best I've seen. I also saw some video of the search efforts and the conditions when the diver was lost were glass. You never know about Monastery. If you haven't done much cold water or kelp diving lately I would suggest a less ambitious dive to start with. South Monastery is a bit easier and you don't have to worry about the trench.

Any way safe diving, and say Hi if you happen to see us. We'll be in the gray Mini Van with the ancient style dive kayaks on the roof (yellow & Orange).

Gary
